Re: Climate Change and other predictions of Imminent Doom

Speaking about the Amazon.... https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1164515943483138055 According to the real "correct" models of climate change, increasingly burning down the Amazon large chunk by chunk per year should have very little to no impact on the global climate. Therefore, the r...

Re: Guns in the USA | Shooting the news

So if you want to travel by air in the USofA and take a gun with you, there are rules: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition Essentially guns go in checked bags only and must be locked in a hard-sided container. Airlines also have their own specific policies in addition. Yo...

Kepler's forgotten ideas about symmetry help explain spiral galaxies without the need for dark matter The 17th-century astronomer Johannes Kepler was the first to muse about the structure of snowflakes. Why are they so symmetrical? How does one side know how long the opposite side has grown? Kepler...

If I were one of the people named as participating in Epstein's illegal sex escapades I would be worried for my life, not from people trying to exact some kind of vigilante revenge but from those trying to cover it up. https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/statement-manhattan-us-attorney-death-defen...

Re: A boil that needs lancing . . . Weinstein et al.

Good points. Photographic/video evidence would indeed be damning, if it exists. In that case, one wonders if the SDNY Public Corruption Unit is above selective release and withhold depending on the individual compromised. If they have any integrity, a dubious proposition to be sure, they will use t...

Re: A boil that needs lancing . . . Weinstein et al.

A lot of wealthy and/or high profile people are breathing a sign of relief today. Not so sure. The case is being handled by SDNY Public Corruption Unit. Due to his death there will now be no way to contest the admissibility of any of the evidence that was seized at any of his properties, so *if* th...

Re: Should unchaperoned mixing between the sexes be banned?

I have a political fantasy that somewhere, somehow, a person with integrity gets elected to congress, wears a wire 24x7 and tapes every phone call, serves maybe two terms, and then writes a book, publicly posting all the source documents, tapes etc to back it up, and blows the status quo to kingdom ...

Re: Gold and silver . . .

Ratio is almost 100 right now. that's rare. If I had gold I'd be very tempted to swap it for silver at this point, and wait for the ratio to drop back to around 40 before swapping back.
