So you prefer the Russian Deep State to the US one, do you, Mr.P?
The CIA being on the truthful, I mean liberal, side is actually quite amusing. Edgar Hoover must be spinning in his grave.

Re: The U.K.
I'm unaffected practically, except that I've cancelled my subscription to the Labour party and after 23rd June I will never ever vote Conservative again, while both Corbyn's Labour and UKIP are beyond the pale. It has to be the Lib Dems by default, although they are wetter than a soaking dishcloth....
Re: The U.K.
As Brexit approaches, and the Orangutan thinks how to start WW3, all you guys can think of is the relative costs of getting p*ssed (British meaning, not American). In the circumstances, not a bad idea. Updating the chide I used to use on my Brit pal from about 8 years ago: "And how many half-b...

Here is a good road map on how to realistically set up space colonies:

OK, I have reregistered in Davos.
Gruetsi miteinander, and I will get the apres-ski drinks ready.
The Spengler forum has had more reincarnations than a primeval Buddhist endlessly failing to hit nirvana.

Re: Asia Times appears to be closing.
No sign of the Spengler forum on the Atimes site, or indeed the Edge into which it was merged.
Has it migrated elsewhere, or was the end in line with the old cliché, with a whimper not a bang?

Re: The U.K.
Sorry to puncture your fantasies, but support for the EU has surged in member states since the awful mess for the UK caused by Brexit has sunk in.

Quillette | Remain vs Leave: Elite Technocracy vs Liberal Democracy Problem is, the EU is neither one thing nor another. It should either be a fully fledged federal state, with the European Parliament granted primacy over national parliaments which become equivalent to US states; or a purely free t...

Re: The U.K.
After being at the receiving end from England for most of 8 centuries, look at the Republic of Ireland now - the only remaining country in the EU speaking the world language. Next time the world economy crashes from financial speculation, do not blame the defunct City of London, which will have move...

I wish they would. I don't approve of capital punishment, but I would make an exception for Cameron Farage and Gove - and Jeremy Corbyn. Johnson is politically dead anyway.Typhoon wrote:Is someone making all these UK politicians offers to retire that they can't refuse?
Re: The U.K.
A German commentator said yesterday that the UK had become the North Korea of Europe. Actually they do have a Dear Leader, while we have none.

Re: Football [Soccer]
Concerning our relations with Europe, in the last week we have had one of the dumbest and most incompetent acts in our history, which has left many in this nation angry and bewildered as we have become a global laughing stock. Yes, I am talking about England 1 Iceland 2 Much more important than mere...

.... Those of us who are economically and politically literate knew this before the vote. Sorry to be elitist. No problem Bro. Someone has to tell the unwashed masses what to think and do, might as well be you. Sorry I can't help, but my hands are full trying to un-FUBAR the US. So, when I read you...
Re: The U.K.
Cameron has said in parliament that we must respect the result, and who cares what Corbyn thinks . It looks as if Brexit will go ahead. MPs could vote it down, but that would require a massive rebellion by Tory Remain MPs. That seems very unlikely, given that most are in constituencies with Leave ma...

Azari, this is what I was getting at about Scots souring on SNP after they've been in office for a while: Reuter's story says poll shows Scots do not want a second vote for independence right now the poll splits something like 44 against- 41 for....and if you scroll down, 47 say they would vote for...
Re: The U.K.

Re: The U.K.
Farage from UKIP asked for a second referendum if the remain majority was very small (less than 3%). Well, the biter bit, it's valid the other way (it was 52-48 for leave). The simple majority bar was way too low for a massive constitutional change in an evenly divided country, Russian roulette. The...
Re: The U.K.
What a disaster, Little England (and Wales). First time I have been ashamed to be British. It is old people to blame, clear Remain majority in the under 50s.
This will embolden Trump and Le Pen in France, as well as UKIP in UK. Welcome to Fascism mark 2.
