Re: News from Forum Participants

I've been perfecting my homemade won ton soup. Easy to make; hard to master. The local Chinese restaurant-- I think they changed their name to a general Asian recently after a brief stop as a Chinese/Japanese restaurant-- has become too costly (starting before the pandemic) AND too varying on qualit...

Re: Baseball

Sunday was "Lou Gehrig's Day" around baseball. A promotion started within the last decade or so to ostensively fund ALS (or colloquially known as Lou Gehrig's Disease,) research. https://twitter.com/notgaetti/status/1797764139902702044 A decade old, but a reading of Gehrig's famous Luckies...

Re: Baseball

I suppose I shoulda posted that. Aaron Judge has been unbelievable; the numbers don't do it justice. He is squaring up everything in the strike zone; there are no holes in his swing to exploit; he's too quick to pitch inside, too big to pitch outside. Right now the Yankees are a juggernaut. Getting ...

Re: Muslim vs the rest of the world.

The Mathematical Civilisation I'm interested in Late Antiquity. I'm interested in Islam. I suggest here that Islam reacted against the Late Antique natural-history. Up to about AD 600, there wasn't a scientody in the West as such. The study of the observable world was natural history, a process of ...

Re: Cricket | A bit of a sticky wicket

This makes sense as to why a local sports radio guy was mentioning cricket during a rant about how awful the New York Mets are. He kept going, "We even have cricket now!" (his point being there are so many entertainment options available, a bad team still getting viewers/fans in the seats ...

Re: Muslim vs the rest of the world.

I think its only fair to point out that what's being called Islamic culture declined when Genghis Khan and friends rode through. Lots of places where the Khaganate took hold, including places like Baghdad, never fully recovered. Maybe a comparison could be made between the Macedonian system that ca...

Re: Computer Games

Yes, it is still well done comparatively to other games. It is just less interesting than the prequel, so far. John now, as then is a good or conventional man forced into bad situations or forced into doing bad things. While he seems mildly ashamed of his past wrongdoings, none of them stick to him ...

Re: Muslim vs the rest of the world.

Posts from over a decade ago about the same conflict shows that the problem just festers and becomes more bitter and worse in general the longer both hold the sides back. . Yes and true Question is WHY ? Why things festers and become more bitter ? ? Who WERE the "Arbiter(s)" of world prob...

Re: Muslim vs the rest of the world.

I think this line of thinking unproductive. With my own two eyes, and with out of date info now, what I saw in bits of Europe was not what I grew up in my part of America. Lots of people who looked like they fell right off the turnip truck- to put it crudely. These guys were even tinier than our lit...

. In Australia, 26 million people , one women killed every 4 days If : "Share of . . ." means "Percentage of . . ." which is independent of the size of the population. art above says Iran has least 2 times Australian violence against women, and, 100 million population (4 times A...

Re: Political Levitas

What distinguishes criminal law from civil law is punishment. Society determines some actions are so abhorrent that the remedy of $$ to the victim is insufficient. The criminal himself must suffer some kind of violence inflicted by society, because society as a whole has been victimized by the act....

Re: Computer Games

John Marston is a detached, fool. All the guilt of the past they try to hit him over the head with doesn't really stick. Even if it did hit, the game is anxious about making him an actual bad guy.

Donald Trump Ruled Outside the Law

They got their verdict.

Sick of arguing details. The message is clear, Republicans are outside the law. The lesson is learned and its only going to get uglier from here.

And all for Trump? Very unfortunate.
