Re: American Prisons
I've read that there are plenty that do alright but looking around the net at articles, it seems that the order and safety (as currently constructed in most of these places) break down very easily and once they are broken it becomes difficult to "fix" them. One of the most interesting conv...

Re: The College Bubble has Burst
A college education that doesn't stress enculturation isn't of use to anyone; and since that is frowned upon (when not done passive-aggressively,) I don't see what good most of these bachelor's diplomas do, including mine.* They are very expensive door passes at best, and only the best schools [whic...

Re: American Prisons
What is it about certain American prisons that we are doing differently than, say, Norway?
And how much trouble do our gang-systems cause?

Re: Work Out and Exercise
Any suggestions for a diet, especially one where you must eat as cheaply as possible? Dried beans—red, pinto, black, garbanzo, etc.—and corn meal. Get a pressure cooker for the beans. Google recipes for corn bread and polenta. I suppose I'm going to hafta bite this bullet: I can't stand beans, :lol...

Re: Work Out and Exercise
Any suggestions for a diet, especially one where you must eat as cheaply as possible? Right now my basic diet is: 5 or 6 small meals a day: 1) A bowl of Life cereal w/2% milk 2) a peanut butter sandwich on whole grain bread 3) nuts (almonds, brazilian nuts, cashews, pecans and a few others mixed in)...

Re: Work Out and Exercise
These are some great suggestions, keep them coming. I've spent the time establishing a habit of working out and a general routine. I try to fast on Sundays, so no working out then, the rest of the week goes: Mondays, Wednesdays: I've been running between 20 to 40 minutes a day. I am at 7 miles a min...

Re: Abstinence fail
I'm pretty sure it sinks up when you look at our African-American, Hispanic and Indian populations and their percentages of each state, and what are abortion numbers in states with lower numbers too? Well who ever is popping out the little hoppers there is a strong delineation describing a high rat...

Re: Abstinence fail
So basically, areas with higher immigrant/minority populations tend towards more teenage pregnancy? Not really seeing as the Messicans/immigants are undocumented thus probably not in figures, fraid you probably have to admit it's good ol Tammy Sue-Lee working the baby tube that makes a dark shade o...

http://s13.postimage.org/escxsqkrr/teen_birth_rate_2010_cdc_state_map.png In the above CDC map, the key indicates the number of births for every 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 19 in a state. For example, in dark green states, there are 50 or more pregnancies for every 1,000 women between th...

I thought the screams were identified as Martin's already. And DoU, regarding screaming from either party: 1) If Zimmerman is screaming, doesn't it invalidate the "he had his hand over my mouth" scenario you painted? 2) If Martin is screaming, why would he be making noise if he was trying ...

This is irrelevant to what I am describing. It is exactly what you are describing, the subjugation of one tribe by a new ruling elite. In this case Westphilian Nation-States imposing a new order on other people. What this has to do with Christianity being involved (or worse than others) is really t...

Re: Great NYT Article: In 2012, No Religious Center Is Holdi
I'm going to agree with Marcus here, considering how large and prominent Christianity was in Asia and Africa well before the rise of colonialism. The colonial period forced conversion and submission on the sub-saharan population. North Africa was under Roman domination, and after the conversion of ...

Re: Great NYT Article: In 2012, No Religious Center Is Holdi
. . Christianity was spread to so much of the world through violence. There has literally been no more intolerant and destructive religious expansion in history. There you go again, spreading nonsense. You have to provide a counterargument. Only then can I rip it apart with historical facts. At thi...

Re: Up To 80 House Dems Are Members Of The Communist Party.
Nap It is not a no Tru Scotsman fallacy. Having a ruling elite that subjugates the masses is the opposite of Communism. It is as much a no true scotsman fallacy as saying a whale is not a shark. Soviet government and the current American government are more similar than either is to Communism. If y...

Then her lawyer and Al Sharpton got hold of her and said "Bitch, is you crazy? You know how much money we got riding on this??" Unsubstantiated, childish, racist nonsense. Why racist? Because I accidentally used the wrong verb? Oh, I meant rad joke I guess. The reversal of an honest state...

I'm going to agree with Marcus here, considering how large and prominent Christianity was in Asia and Africa well before the rise of colonialism. If anything the spread of Christendom had a net loss effect on practicing global Christianity well before the last century. For all the conversions of the...

As the Vulgate records: "Gloria in altissimis Deo, et in terra pax in hominibus bonæ voluntatis." [Glory [belongs] to God among the most high and peace among men of good will on earth.]
The parable is an ethical one, and the people of God (men of good will) are supra-political.

Re: Illegal immigration boom drops to net zero
The legal Latino population will continue to grow, both through births and the incremental legalization of the massive illegal population. Plus, the US economy may improve enough that it's a desirable place to sneak into once again. Or they will pipeline right through to Canada. ;) This is why I've...

First, in the Reformed tradition, the Jewish and Christian covenants do not "coexist." We are much much much closer on this than perhaps you'd like to recognize. But I think it is self-evident, if one looks at the historical record, that it was among Protestant communities that the questi...

Re: Hate Crimes
I will say that our nation would be better, not worse, if more men took enough of an interest in their community to keep a neighborhood watch like Zimmerman, even if he was amateurish and in over his head. We know that he made a call to 911 and was instructed not to pursue, and instruction he faile...

i was trying to get at that in the latter half of my dribble. i do think the real tax rate is part of the discussion, with all of it we have points of comparison for both OWS and TP arguments. But what argument are they bringing to the table besides "Unanimity minus One, Now!"? It may ove...

to really get some meat into this argument it would be nice to get stats for real tax rates across countries (and states for us federated mobs) its a nice starting point for just how "socialist" each of us really are and how much its certain powerful groups abusing said power to make them...

Re: Up To 80 House Dems Are Members Of The Communist Party.
Communism is a wonderful thing. It's something Jesus and I agree upon. You may think this platitude gives you the high ground but you come off sounding like an immature ass every time you post it. What the Anti-Communists fight and justify mass slaughter over and was practiced by Mao and Stalin was...
