What is Privacy?

Post by Juno »

I went to get a haircut today, to a national chain salon where they used to cut your hair for $12. You have to sign in to be waited on, and they ask for your phone number, and enter it into the computer.

Why?

Have you ever hesitated from posting a topic on an internet forum for discussion, then decided not to because you did not think it prudent to create an evidence trail?

Google took down the Director of the CIA, and to this day we don't know when they had the goods on him. There probably aren't ten people alive with more actual power than the Director of the CIA.

If you know my address, you can look at a picture of my backyard in less than a minute.

When you cash a check you are required to provide a thumbprint.

How can there be freedom when there is no privacy?

Most internet sites, compile a profile for visitors .. they know pretty much all about you .. when I read NYT on the net, most banners are in FARSI pitching to
Iranian dating service   .. funny stuff is, same when I read Jerusalem Post, all banners in Farsi pitching Iranian travel agents .. they even know you watching Porno what category is your preference, mature, Greek or Hidden Cam

There is no privacy anymore .. get used to it

privacy is a quaint archaic concept from the time before we got the ability to digitise things and then connect these digitisers together on a single network.

if it can be digitised it can go against your permenant record and im struggling to think of things we cant digitise right now - your thoughts are still mostly private unless they leak out on to your face.
