For my 96 year old mother, now palliative, sliding away in a painless morphine mist to the other side.

QkE0SXpU3Co

When you are old the day after tomorrow
Who will stay with you then
To rub away your aches
And put your worries away
And don't argue too much
If you talk about then again

When you are old the day after tomorrow
Who will encourage you then?
And who helps you cross
If it just doesn't work anymore
And who will break the silence
That stands around you like ice

When you are old the day after tomorrow
Then who will make your bed
And who does your petty business
And who takes care of your bread
And who will watch over you
On the night before you die

When you are old the day after tomorrow
So old your ears ring
Who will blow your nose then
And who helps you to get up
And who will close your eyes
If they don't close by themselves

After going through decades of R&R hits lately I am struck by how much better songs were in the 1960s/70s I am not saying there hasn't been any good songs since then just in general songs are not as good.

No digital Music. No autotune. It just seems better to me.

Anyone agree? Disagree?

Agreed. Pop music today is often written by a committee.

Frank Zappa has, as often, some interesting comments on the music business

Yeah by committee
The song landslide was written in 5 minutes. It was very personal. About the feelings in that moment. Nicks had hit bottom and was trying to figure out what to do with her life. Keep trying to making a living singing music or quit and go back to live with her parents and go to local college.

Her father showed up and convinced her to try for six months and if things still did not work out she would come back home.

When ever she sings the song live she dedicates it to her father, and seems to be about her relation with him. It wasn't released a single until 1997 I guess around 25 years after it was first release on Fleetwood Mac's White Album. It seems more popular now than it was when it was first released.

No way it could have been written by a committee.

So it's official. NOBODY knows what MUSIC is any more.

If someone is singing solo and they sound like they are singing in harmony. Like a Disney cartoon musical. Then it is autotuned.

Doc posted Tim Foust making women dampen their panties by covering of Carter & Ralph Stanley’s “Man of Constant Sorrow” in Levitas.

For those not well versed in Bluegrass, these guys pretty much started it. It came out of the non-instrumental Church of Christ tradition.

I’ve been to one such service in rural Missouri. Folks sing through the pews to one another, praying and blessing as the spirit moves them.
