Technological Activism
There is a great deal of this going on these days. I see it amongst people who are developing various software applications and see the software they are developing as something that will revolutionize the way things are done. Within Social Networking Tech circles there is both a Libertarian Utopianism and a Communist Utopianism relating to how 'stuff' and our relationship to 'stuff' can be changed through the way people use tech. Apple's design concepts are a good example of this and PopTech is sort of the mecca of this kind of thinking.
