Re: About prayer
Well said, "Parodite" aka Rhapsody. Good to hear from you again. :D (Is "Parodite" some form of igneous mineral or is it a burlesque of one? ;) ) Also Hi again Madammme An! :D I had to google myself the meaning of Parodite afterwards; in French it seems related to the salivary g...

Well Tinker you missed the important bit, paying for the sins of mankind and laying down his life, a sacrifice for all mankind . That part always baffled me...wtf does that mean, how does that work? Explain it to me doctor.. Oh wait, I'll give it a shot. In the past offerings, sacrificing something...

Can you explain this verse, Ho. If it means that the best prayer is the most silent.. listening one.. it makes sense to me.Hoosiernorm wrote:1 Corinthians 14:14 English Standard Version (ESV)

Re: Substantial conversations between Jews and Christians
It is a direction. Hell is not necessarily defined by pain, chaos and suffering. It can be a very pleasant place, in a lotus-eater way and it could well remain so until we are not anymore. Hell is defined by extinction and the utter irrelevance of the self. Moving towards the Godhead is the antithe...

I liked the Christian saying: "You are talking lavender" :D I kind of.. agree. :? What are you, some kind of Christian fundamentalist now? Yes! The light emitting Gestalt of Christ appeared at my beds footend at 03.17 am a week ago, nodding his head in dismay begging me to let Him h...

The why of philosophy often paved the way to the how of empirical science. Good scientists always know how to ask their why, of courseTyphoon wrote:Philosophy and religion: why does the universe exist?

Totally sensical. In fact the only moment begging makes sense; when mercy is required to survive. Some Tarantino movies comes to mind.Hoosiernorm wrote:Nothing wrong with begging, especially for mercy.

Re: substantial conversations between Jews and Christians
The reason why i'm willing to consider life here as hell is because it meets rather basic requirements. It begins absurdly and ends rather pointlessly. Ok, so we live in Hell. What to do, go on strike? Develop better pain killers? Believe in Luuuuuv? Open up to Jesus? Maybe some new Occupy movement...

About prayer
Since it is nice, comforting, calming to know people are thinking, praying, empathizing... it should help. When you are unable to help yourself, you look for help. Somebody or something to pull you out of the pit. The presence of other people trying to help you physically, or just even wishing/wanti...

Just a thought
Is it possible to think about thought? (ie. thought as the process of thinking) Edit: probably indeed a useless question! :P But that is also the point. Through the echo box Thought can be called a subtitler . A visual perception of a green bal generates a subtitle that says: "That is green bal...

Re: The Nature of Moral Law
When all knowledge is incomplete, what can be said with any degree of certainty of "moral law" being revealed or natural, a combination perhaps or other? Add the things we don't know we don't know... and it gets messier quickly. Doesn't seem to be very important to label it either, or, xor...
