their was one special moment when Maxi - the guy with unstoppable wrists, broke nearly every record in the game.

he had already been fielding for 4 hrs in hot weather and was exhausted, he went out to bat with us being 7 down for 90, chasing 300 - the win/loss o meter stats gave us less than 1% as it was technically possible, just had never happeend.

he got out 3 times early, but each time they dropped the catch or the hawkeye said no.

then he went absolutely ballistic with a care free attitude and put every ball out of the park, got 100 runs, which was amazing.

then he got cramps and completely collapsed in a twitching mess on the field, and couldnt walk anymore.

then just stood there, not moving his legs, and proceeded to hit ANOTHER 100 RUNS, with just his wrists, smacking every ball out of the park

made 200 runs, won the game, never happened before, never will happen again, its hard to scoree 100 runs, doing it without leg movement is impossible.

yeh, throwing with a straight arm is biomechanically absurd, the run up and jump at the end like a javelin thrower is a big part of trying to get speed without the elbow whip.

its interesting how both bat and ball sports "crippled" the thrower - indicates that a run up, jump and bent elbow throw would be probably unplayable.

Both also legalized or 'officialized' over-arm motions at roughly the same time and have been tweaking around the edges of that decision since.

amusingly cricket only had the cultural pressure to bowl overarm right up until the 1980's, when my team abused the area of grey in the law to win a game and caused an international furore which the new zealanders still rant about to this day.

This makes sense as to why a local sports radio guy was mentioning cricket during a rant about how awful the New York Mets are.

He kept going, "We even have cricket now!" (his point being there are so many entertainment options available, a bad team still getting viewers/fans in the seats is no longer a guarantee.)

Baseball twitter has been all aflutter over some apparent beef started with cricket twitter.

It's all very ridiculous but my timeline is filled with "angry" baseball fans who are now tuned into the goings on with the world cup.

...so whoever's idea of viral marketing this was, it worked.

the american team of ex u19 expat Indians with a few west indians and south africans is doing very well.
