FT | Chinese industrial output growth slows as property crisis weighs on economy
Retail sales beat expectations in May but real estate market slump deepens
Wishing them rots of ruck.

FT | A Beautiful Chinese Launderette

It’s that simple. Drug addicts in the US are facilitating the western education of Chinese youth, as well as helping to fund the lifestyles of other Chinese nations living outside China.

FT | Can Xi keep a lid on China’s mounting social strains?
The authorities are increasingly concerned about rises in unemployment, mental illness and crime linked to the economic slowdown
[Mod note: archive.ph is like a firefly, flashing on and off. Sorry.]

I have gone thru and dismissed about a dozen finance "experts" on youtube. He and Stoic finance are the only ones I bother with now. China Updates is also pretty good and I would say the most professional economics(sometimes) youtuber I know of. This one (Eurodollar university) stopped cutting his hair during the pandemic. He has some pretty interesting ideas that make a lot of sense to me at least.

This is probably one of his better videos in which he explains a lot of his ideas and where he is coming from:

China Updates is saying more or less the same thing. This guy apologizes for having two sponsors per month to fill the gap between his production costs and what the channel makes. As he would rather not give the slightest hint of non impartiality.

WSJ | Feared in the West, China’s Manufacturers Struggle at Home
Huge overinvestment, weak domestic sales and trade barriers abroad have depressed companies’ profits and pushed many to the brink
Top down command economics invariably fails be it the CCP or the Federal Central Committee, pardon me, the Federal Reserve.

Didn't watch the first Yt video, but the second video comes across as a bit weak.
Lots of extrapolation between what I saw and what was claimed.

Would also like to see the alleged Chinese document for myself.

No fan of the CCP, but also not a fan of pundit wannabees on Yt.

The Second video "Lei's Real Talk" Lei was studying in the US at the time of Tiananmen Square and could not go back to China. Which tends to give her some street creds.

Also Lei is the first You tube channel to post this video The second part was cited numerous times by other China pundits:

2 Chinese mercenaries explain the pay, training and war experiences in Ukraine

The first Video channel is pretty solid.

Anecdotally, I've noticed that WeChat | 微信 | Wēixìn, one of the major PR China social media apps, has recently been flooded by videos by manufacturers, mainly in the home fixtures and furnishing fields, aside from the usual ones of Chinese gals engaged in some activity or just posing and preening.

FT | China’s bond market is sending a signal policymakers can’t ignore
The country’s central bank is concerned about anaemic domestic demand
There is a bubble in the Chinese government bond market — or so, at least, the People’s Bank of China would fervently like to believe. A bubble would be a worrying risk to financial stability. The existence of such a risk, however, is far more palatable than the plausible alternative: that bond markets are sending out an increasingly dire signal of concern about the prospects for China’s economy, the danger of deflation and the need for a change of course.
