Err, species go extinct all the time. In fact Ive read that as many as 90% of all species are already extinct. It seems it is the fate of all of us. There is nothing special about the last generation to survive, it's just bad luck on their part.Typhoon wrote:Perhaps. Just take 1/2 of those.
What was special about the people that died on 9-11 or lost their jobs in 2008=2009. You don't have to be special to have a calamity come down on your head.

I always thought being bulletproof to be the domain of the very young cs.
The Western nations will be bankrupt going into record retirements financed by ponzi schemes with declining retiree/worker ratios as geopolitical chess pieces move aggressively. If the Titanic hits an iceberg it hits an iceberg. Nothing to do with specialness. I think rather one would have to think one was special to avoid freezing to death in the water.

This isn't about the end of the world. This is about the end of the USA as we know it. About things getting worse rather than better. I am not kidding when I say as things stand now I will be losing my health insurance because of Obama. The first lie was that Obama was not going to stand for health insurance rates to go up 30% or more. Mine went up 29.999% when previously it never went up more than 14% in one year. In most states that is considered price fixing which is a crime. TInker said here somewhere something to the effect that any employer would not lay off a worker for $5000.00 per year. What if the employer has 10 employees? That is $50,000 per year EVERY YEAR. How much do you suppose the average small business makes in a given year?Typhoon wrote:I've been waiting:Doc wrote:Just wait and iyou will see that it is.Typhoon wrote:Perhaps. Besides that if you are force to lay off someone because you can't afford to keep them .. I personally know of one case where a sinlge employee was fired(Not laid off but actually fired) it cost the company $30,000 in additional unemployment payments for nothing more than firing the guy. SO imagine the economy sucks in most of the country particularly the republican leaning parts. There is no much in the way of a profit without Obama care With it the additional 5,000 per employee means a loss in many many cases. Businesses only exist (despite the claim of all the big corps about how generaous they are in the advertising that costs multiple times what they give away in "Charity") TOO MAKE MONEY. Without making money, or at least the possibility of making money, there is no reason for a business to exist.
So let me ask you, IF you were in the position to spend your own money to pay someone else a salary out of your savings and you were confronted by the very real possibility you would lose everything you have saved for years, would you hire anyone?
Small business employs most of the people in this country. They actually subsidize large corps health insurance bills. Case in point in the state of MD about 15 years ago small business were paying their employees thru temp agencies at a higher cost for payroll But because they could get better rates for their employees health insurance because the temp agencies got a better discount since technically they had so many more employees than the individual businesses they did it.
Then the state legislature made it illegal because either the rates for the big corps had to go up or the Insurance companies had to make less profit. And the elected legislature could not stand for that.
Health insurance companies because of Obama care have more than doubled their profits and their stock prices are doubled the markets as a whole as a result. That is a fact. From that point all you have to do is follow the money to see who is pulling the strings with Obamacare. Obamacare is not about cutting costs. It is not about insurance the uninsured it is about creating a national political machine for rich people to run. Not all rich people, just the pathological lying jerks that really do not give a shi*t about anyone else. IE They have their and everyone else can go to hell for all they care. Actually they do care as the richer they are in relation to the rest of us the richer they are. If that means people become slaves to the government then so be it. They are quite content with that prospect of lives being cheaper It simply means less competition for them.
Look at Brasil Look at the names of the companies of the buildings and you will see exactly what I am talking about. It is not about the end of the world It is about the 70 year old that is losing her Medicare supplemental insurance and/or her specialist because the new Obamacare mandated plan is higher and does not include the specialist that she has used for years to stay in good health. Instead she gets an 800 number to call to find a new specialist over the phone. For her it could quite easily be the end of the world.
But what do you say to these folks?

This is just the tip of the iceberg as many of the insurance companies contacted refused to give the number of policies canceled. Its near certain that millions and millions more will lose their's as well. Imagine how many of these people are in bad health and what the stress of this is doing to them.Obamacare: More than 2 million people getting booted from existing health insurance plans
Pol Pot was responsible for two million deaths in Cambodia. Obama as it stands right now is looking to bring the premature death of more than that. all in the name of creating a national political organization that can never be beat. This change is going to be a massive. Concentrating much more power into much fewer hands. A government that holds life and death power over law bidding citizens is at best is a democracy name only.
You certainly seem to recognize the danger of big data but have you given no thought to how and who can apply it to their overwhelming advantage against individuals? That these pigs have tried so hard to put lip stick on it is astounding. They have touched the third rail. Obama rarely gets named for the blame in the MSM I have been watching. The only TV news outlets that have been covering this without apologising and making claims that it really is the fault of anyone but Obama. Even as they report the watered down facts about how bad this is. Google news has been hiding the stories from its main pages until they get so big there is no way they can be avoided. Foxnews was reporting the smoking gun of a HHS/IRS memo that as many as 70% of individuals that personally insurnce themselves would lose their insurance plans that predated the passage of Obamacare. Yet it did not appear on Google news until today. Given the support Googles founders and largest share holders have given to Obama That is understandable.
But a huge concentration of power in few hands.

Worse than that was when Bush I made it legal for government entities to own businesses. That's not a part of the Teapublican logic. I had someone tell me that TARP was Obama's responsibility because he implemented it. That's right, if a President doesn't violate the law and go back on laws passed before he is elected, that makes it his responsibility solely and completely.Ibrahim wrote: Uh, do you know how laws work?
